The Death of King Shotaway (Origins of the African Grove Theater)
The Death of King Shotaway, written and directed by Samuel Harps, is inspired by the true story of the African Grove Theater, created by playwright William Henry Brown in Manhattan in 1821.  AGT was the first known theater to perform Shakespeare's Othello with a Negro in the title role.
