Labyrinth walking is an ancient tool for modern times; a simple tool to help you connect to your internal guidance system and access your creative nature. As a meditative tool it helps you relax and focus your mind.
Labyrinths are thought to enhance right brain activity, and uses include problem solving, conflict resolution, walking meditation, modern day pilgrimage, contemplation, inner reflection, stress management, and spiritual work. The American Cancer Society states that labyrinths “may be helpful as a complementary method to decrease stress and create a state of relaxation.”
Each month we offer a different theme that reflects either the seasons, a special event, or a topic that "is in the air". Ideas, questions and considerations related to the theme are suggested as a walking prompt. Sometimes the walk is silent and there is no theme.
Our event begins with a brief introduction to labyrinths from 6:30 p.m. - 6:45 p.m. followed by a labyrinth ‘warming ceremony’, focused on the theme, from 6:45 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Walking takes place from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and people walk at their own pace.
If you are new to labyrinths come learn about this dynamic tool that supports contemplation, meditation and self-reflection (arrive at 6:30 to learn about labyrinths). If you've walked the labyrinth before, then join us on this day to celebrate the growth of the labyrinth movement (arrive at 6:45 to warm the labyrinth, or 7:00 to begin walking)!
