Heart Jewel is the main practice of the New Kadampa Tradition of Buddhism, which frees our hearts and minds and removes obstacles to our meditation practice.
On this day, we will receive teachings on improving our daily Lamrim practice and how to overcome any obstacles in our life through relying on the Dharma Protector. Through this special daily practice, we can fulfill our wish to be happy and peaceful. Ultimately. we can be a source of joy and peace for others, helping the world directly through our own kindness.

Gen Kelsang Chogden is an American Buddhist nun and the Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Center Maryland. Gen Chogden has been practicing Kadampa Buddhism for over 18 years under Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, who gave her the title “Gen” indicating that she is a senior ordained teacher of the Kadampa Tradition. Gen Chogden’s compassionate activities of teaching, guiding, and inspiring those around her are the result of her deep faith, clear wisdom, and heartfelt concern for others that brings true sincerity and humility to her life as a spiritual teacher.
