Turban Day in Times Square is the worlds largest Turban tying event of the world. A celebration of the Turban in the Sikh diaspora.Â
In 2017, Turban Day was watched by 1 Million+ live stream through Facebook and 2.6 Million+ were reached through social media, 8,000 turbans were tied while attended by thousands and covered by Huffington Post, Daily News, NBC, Times of India.
In 2018, this is the first time that Guinness Book of World Records will be present at the event and we will be trying our best to set a record for the most Turbans tied at any one event!
Our main purpose of this event is to educate the general public about the Sikh Turban why we wear it what it stands for and how we are identified by it in north America and other countries outside of India.Â
We are asking for your help in making this a huge success we need your volunteer services and your family and friends to be fully involved we need a lot of support monetarily as the total expense is going to surpass $100,000
A point that needs to be noted is that this is not a political event this is not something that we are doing for us we are doing it for our next generation & our current generation so when they are seen in public with a turban on at public schools, malls, subways, trains, planes & anywhere, so the general public knows who we are and what the Turban stands for. so they feel proud of it instead of feeling shy or neglected, we see that some of kids are doing their hair in ponytails to hide themselves among the masses, we need to change that we need to make them feel proud and the only way that we can do that is by educating the general public about who we are and what we stand for.
