The Statue of Liberty—like all New York City sights--is temporarily closed to visitors. However, now you can visit the iconic international landmark from the comfort of home on a virtual tour with a live, licensed, tour guide who will lead you on a climb all the way to top of Liberty’s flame. No ferries, no security lines, you can visit the statue on your computer, phone, or tablet with a tour guide who has been there hundreds of times, and you will learn 150 years of history on a virtual tour. Perfect for families, kids, and anyone who must stay home. This one-hour tour is led by one of the most popular tour guides in New York City, an award winning published author, who has appeared on the Travel Channel. You will have fun and see the Statue of Liberty in a whole new way.
The landmark is known the world over as a symbol of liberty, immigration, and democracy. Since 1886 it has been the most famous place in New York Harbor. With the tour boats stopped during the current pandemic, the only way to visit Liberty Island is on a virtual tour. On this tour you can watch from home and get the information about its construction, history, and unique characteristics. We will “climb” 305 feet to the top.
A bonus of this unique tour is the special access visitors can take because we are virtual tourists. The right arm and torch have been closed to the public since 1916; today we will climb a 40-foot ladder and pop out and walk around the flame. We will also peer out the 25 windows of the crown for stunning views of New York Harbor.
Of course we are skipping the lines and security checkpoints! You can attend this tour with your pets! Because this is a LIVE tour, not a pre-recorded video, you can ask questions of the guide. The only thing this tour will not have, besides not really being inside the Statue of Liberty, is a trip to the gift shop.
How it works: After you purchase your ticket, you will receive a link via email. It will provide a meeting ID and password to attend the tour.
About the guide: Taking you on the tour will be Kevin C. Fitzpatrick, a licensed NYC sightseeing guide. He is the author of eight books tied to New York history, and has won the Apple Award from the Guides Association for New York City three times. He has appeared on the Travel Channel, NPR, and BBC radio.
