Guests are greeted by costume-clad volunteers and led on a tour of the Single Brothers House where they may sing carols, observe beeswax candles being made by hand, enjoy a generous slice of Moravian sugar cake and a warm cup of Moravian coffee, then view the Putz: a snowy street scene of Salem around 1900, complete with miniature figures and buildings built to scale. Organized by the Women’s Fellowship of Home Moravian Church, Candle Tea is regarded by many as the opening event of the Christmas season in Winston-Salem.
