GAMA Detroit is excited to finally start up programming again since the beginning of the pandemic! It's been a long two and half years and we're ready to gather artists once again!Â
Join us on July 28th at 7 pm EST at the Sanctuary of Sound for a book reading by Reem Abou-samra. She'll be reading from her latest book, Fractured: Between Truth and Lies, a collection of poems that speak to the complexity of stories and life.Â
Our suggested ticket price is $10-$25. Please don't let this range stop you from paying less - or more!! At GAMA, we aim to support our artists as best as we can so that they are fairly compensated for their work and to show our love and appreciation for them! Guests will also have an opportunity to buy Reem's book at the event.
This is a family-friendly event that will take place outdoors. Light refreshments will be available. Bring your own blanket/pillow if you'd like to get cozy on the grass. In the case of rain, the event will move indoors and masking will be encouraged.Â

Her upcoming book Just: enough will be released at the end of the year. If she is not taking a long walk or hike, stress-baking, or sitting in nature - you may see her performing by hitting up a local metro-Detroit open mic.
Fractured: Between Truth and Lies is a collection of poems that speak to the complexity of stories and life. Reem writes her poetry in order to speak her truth – while simultaneously questioning her own thoughts and life-experiences. The dialectical approach of her poetry – is a representation of the problematic binaries in the world: the yes and the no, the truth and the lies, the old and the new, the right and the wrong – and how life usually falls somewhere in between.
