Bassem Akiki, one of the most outstanding young conductors working today, conducts the 2nd concert in the Chamber Orchestra's series. You'll hear the delicate beauty of Mozart and the virtuosity of clarinetist, Ricardo Morales. This amazing work is well balanced with two dance pieces; the Dance of the Blessed Spirits from Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice and Respighi's incredible Ancient Airs and Dances. The concert closes with Sir Malcolm Arnold's Symphony for Strings. Written after World War II, the work is reflective of the composer's own experience of the war. Both beautiful and gritty, the Symphony for Strings will provide a moving end to a strong performance.
