For centuries, women have had hid their fierceness, suppressing their “Dark Feminine”, for fear of judgment from the patriarchy. The Road to Lilith is a coming-of-age story for the middle-aged, a new declaration of independence for anyone who has lost their voice and is ready to risk it all to find it again.
The film follows Olivia Sanchez, an overworked and underappreciated wife and special needs mother. Like the generations of women who came before Olivia, she was taught to bury her needs and emotions, putting others before herself. So much so that she delays getting a diagnosis for her troubled vocal cords. When she finally gets the news, she is devastated to learn she will never be able to sing again. After years of postponing her music career, Olivia looks upon her life with discontentment wondering what could have been.Â
