Arabic Calligraphy Workshop with Ustadh Khalid Casado

Event: Calligraphy Workshop at MCA Santa Clara

Event Details:
This event will be a 5-hour workshop with a 1-hour break for prayer and lunch. The workshop will begin
with providing an overview of the classical learning method for Islamic calligraphy, and the significance
of the silsila (lineage) of calligraphy and the relationship between masters and students. Ustadh Khalid
will then demonstrate the tools and materials of the art, and then the remainder of the class will be
practical exercises and writing letters. Students are welcome to ask questions/have discussions at any
time. Each student will receive a beginner calligraphy kit and worksheets that they can take home.
