Bringing Awareness to Youth Suicide
Sunday, June 23 at
Tamarack Golf Course
12:00 p.m./1:30 Shotgun Start
It affects every race, religion, and
age; it does not discriminate between rich and poor. Â It hit our neighborhood Dairy Queen in
Naperville, IL. In Jonathan Kaden’s
second year working for Karen, he died by suicide on July 29, 2011. Jonathan wanted to be a photojournalist. Few knew he struggled with depression. We must bring awareness to this growing issue
of teen suicide and work to put an end to this epidemic.
Proceeds from this year’s event will go to The Jeff Yalden Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization committed to changing the statistics of suicide and making the world a more optimistic place for youth and families. Its mission statement is to prevent suicide, improve community mental health, and shatter the stigma surrounding mental health by initiating a positive movement: Speak Up ; Reach Out.
Who is Jeff Yalden? A professional speaker and educational consultant since 1992, Jeff has worked with school communities in 50 states and 49 different countries, including every province in Canada. He’s a passionate advocate for mental health awareness and a leading authority on teen motivation, teen suicide prevention, and crisis intervention. Jeff provides training to teens, teachers, and parents in communities and mental health conferences across the country. His seventh book, Teen Suicide: The WHY Behind America’s Suicide Epidemic, was released in the fall of 2018.
The foundation supports Jeff Yalden’s work in schools as he teaches teens, instructors, parents, and community members about mental health awareness and how to advocate for themselves. By doing this, the foundation gives hope and inspires all. Our goal this year is to bring jyf to our community.
Let’s address this epidemic by coming together to discuss how to prevent suicide, by listening and learning from Jeff Yalden. Let us learn more about recognizing the signs as we gain resources to help children in need. The only way to prevent suicide is to embrace knowledge and understand how to address it. We need to come together as a team and support one another. Let us teach each other to speak up and reach out without judgment.
Let’s continue the conversation by spending a day golfing for a life!
