"Béisbol: The Legends of Puerto Rico" explores the rich origins of baseball in Puerto Rico and how Negro League players from the United States found a home on an island miles away from the harsh realities of racism in America during the 1920s through the 1960s. Here Negro players like Hall of Famer Satchel Paige, Josh Gibson, and many others, would inspire future generations of Puerto Ricans, setting off a baseball revolution that impacts Puerto Rico to this very day. We follow the untold story of Puerto Rican native and Major League Baseball Hall of Famer, Orlando Cepeda, as he along with many other black and Puerto Rican players tried to make a name for themselves in the Carribean and the United States. Through their journeys they found guidance under Perdrin Zorrilla, a man whose love for people transcended sports, race, and creed, culminating with one of the most talented rosters ever assembled in baseball history, the 1955 Cangrejeros of Santurce, "The Yankees of Puerto Rico." The team included Hall of Famers: Willie Mayz, Roberto Clemente, Buster Clarkson, Bob Thurman, Rubén Gómez, George Crowe, and gave Puerto Rico a sense of pride that the country had never felt before.
