Nimco Mahamud-Hassan shares the home cooking traditions of her native Somalia in this special hand-on Master Class.
You will make Nimco's Sanuunad Digaag Iyo Bariis Cad, or chicken stew, aromatic baked cinnamon-clove-cardamom rice, cold chopped salad with piquant tamarind-lime vinaigrette, and her famous green chili sauce.
The class also includes a comparative tasting and discussion of various spices common in Nimco’s pantry including two kinds of cumin, several cardamom varieties and an array of cinnamon. As you cook and taste, you will learn how to turn simple ingredients into many deeply flavorful dishes through the use of particular technique and spice combinations.
Note: Master Classes are special opportunties to learn about a culture, cuisines, or technique from experts. Unless otherwise noted, they do not require advanced cooking experience.
